Riisa & Demetrius {St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands Wedding}

Imagine with me...
An ocean of clear, blue water, so peaceful it invites you to plunge into its depths forever.
Beautiful beaches of warm, white sand that embrace your feet with every step.
An endless blue sky bursting at the seams with puffy clouds and brazen rainbows.
Fleeting summer rain that dares you to dance to the rhythm of its song.
Imagine the search, the wait for the one your heart desired coming to an end.
Imagine the beginning of a life that before only existed in dreams, now within your hands.
Imagine with me, a love made in paradise.

This was the reality of Riisa & Demetrius' celebration of love at The Palms at Pelican Cove in St. Croix, USVI. It was an intimate gathering of family and friends taking place at one of the most beautiful places on Earth. And though I cherish every wedding I have the honor of photographing, this one meant so much more to me because the bliss radiating from this day's bride was was that of my big sister. I have watched her for as long as I can remember, marveling at the sheer size of her heart and how freely, how wholly she loves. I have yearned right along with her for someone to return that love in the way that only a true soul partner can. And on this day, I smiled a little bigger and I laughed a little louder because those desires were now a reality.

Riisa & Demetrius surprised my niece and nephew with thoughtful gifts to commemorate their special day.

Surrounded by island themed details and décor, Riisa got ready with the help of her favorite girl.

Oh, sister...I cannot fully put into words how beautiful you are.

Just steps away, the handsome groom was preparing himself to see his bride.

Since their ocean side ceremony would take place at sunset, the couple opted to do a "First Look." This gave them ample time for beautiful portraits without worrying about missing a single second of their reception. It also gave them the opportunity to have a private moment before the festivities began. Though the anticipation was already high, Demetrius decided to prolong the suspense even after Riisa tapped him on the shoulder. Such a cute reaction from both of them.

Now anyone who knows my sister knows that she has a smile that can light up any room. But the smile Demetrius put on her face that day was priceless.

When the time came for the ceremony to begin, close friends and family gathered in front of a breathtaking view and witnessed the merger of two hearts and the creation of a new version of a loving family. With the service officiated by her father, sincere prayers offered by her mother, and scripture readings by her two children, it truly was a family affair.

To everyone that celebrated the love of my sister and new brother, I thank you for making their day special. Your presence added to their joy, and that fact brightens my day.

Kristen & Genet {Houston, Texas Wedding}

Kristen and Genet are two of the most fun-loving, easy-going people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Their Houston wedding was full of beautiful details and the laughter of family and friends. The soon-to-be newlyweds prepared for their walk down the aisle at the Embassy Suites of Downtown Houston.

Upon Kristen's arrival at the hotel, she was greeted by a lovely gift from her groom. What a beautiful reminder of the day that two hearts became one.

Kristen made such a stunning bride. I kept listening for angelic voices to sing in the background as she completed her transformation...

Just two floors below, Genet and his fellas were getting ready and simply enjoying life. There was so much joking, laughter and "Instagramming" going on, all I could do was stand back and smile. This group of gentlemen know how to celebrate.
